LEAPS at Health Tech Week 2023: Empowering Communities for Better Diabetes Management
We are thrilled to share an exciting update about our recent adventure at Health Tech Week 2023, held in the beautiful city of Tāmaki Makaurau at the prestigious Cordis hotel. Our LEAPS team, represented by Jake and Grace, had the privilege of attending this remarkable event, where we had the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of diabetes management.
During the event, Jake and Grace hosted an information booth, where they engaged with a diverse range of attendees, including distinguished guests such as Dr. Shane Reti, representatives from Pharmac, the Wright Family Foundation, HEC consultants, and numerous esteemed researchers and community organizations. It was a fantastic platform to showcase the LEAPS project and its remarkable accomplishments, as well as unveil our ambitious future plans.

The LEAPS team couldn't have reached this point without the incredible support from TE TĪTOKI MATAORA'S Research Acceleration Programme (RAP). Their contribution has been instrumental in driving our progress and enabling us to make a difference in the lives of individuals with diabetes.
The highlight of our journey at Health Tech Week was undoubtedly the final day, where Jake and Grace had the honour of presenting their expertise on community engagement and the development of our kawenata. This was an opportunity for us to demonstrate how authentic community engagement can be established, allowing true collaboration with communities and making them integral partners in our journey.
As we look back on the event, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible connections made and the inspiration gathered. The enthusiasm and passion displayed by attendees reaffirmed our commitment to delivering affordable diabetes management technology to everyone in need.
Our experience at Health Tech Week 2023 has further fuelled our determination to create innovative solutions and continue working towards a world where no one is left behind in diabetes care. Thank you all for being part of this incredible journey with us.
Stay tuned for more updates as we forge ahead, paving the way for better diabetes management through technology and genuine community engagement. Together, we can achieve great things.
